NEW DELHI: The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India rankings 2021 will be released tomorrow (September 9). Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be declaring the NIRF ranking 2021 , the sixth annual ranking list, of top colleges and universities at a virtual event.
The NIRF ranking will also have a separate list under various categories including top colleges, top universities, best engineering colleges, medical colleges.
NIRF ranking 2021: Parameters
The Indian universities and colleges will be ranked based on teaching, learning and resources (TLR), research and professional practice (RP), graduation outcomes (GO), outreach and inclusivity (OI), peer perception.
NIRF ranking 2020
Last year, the NIRF rankings 2020 was announced by former Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on June 11, 2020. IIT Madras was ranked first under the overall NIRF India rankings 2020. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru and IIT-Delhi have bagged the second and third spots.
Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) including Bombay, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Guwahati, Roorkee was also featured in the overall top ten Indian ranking list 2020.
IISc Bengaluru, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) are among the non-IITs in the top ten ranking list. Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia stood at 11th and 10th spots, respectively.
A total number of 3,771 unique institutions applied for ranking under overall, category-specific NIRF 2020 rankings.
The ten categories under NIRF Ranking 2020 are Overall, Universities, Engineering, Colleges, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture, and Dental and Law. The dental college ranking was introduced for the first time last year.
