NIRF University Ranking 2022: IISC Bengaluru retains top position

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru is the best university in India, according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2022 released by education minister Dharmendra Pradhan. IISC Bengaluru has been ranked as the top university ever since the inception of NIRF ranking.

Jawaharlal Nehru Univeristy (JNU) and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) are the second and third best universities in the country according to the NIRF ranking 2022. This is the first time that JMI is ranked in the top three institutions.

Jadavpur University and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, respectively, make up the top five in the NIRF ranking list.

Jadavpur Univeristy and Calcutta University (rank 8) are the only state public universities to feature in the top ten rankings.

In last year’s NIRF ranking, IISC Bengaluru was ranked the top university followed by JNU and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) at second and third rank respectively. Calcutta University and Amrita Vishwa Vidhyapeetham, respectively, were the fourth and fifth ranked universities.

Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan also released the NIRF ranking for overall , Engineering, medicine, college and B-school.

NIRF ranking 2022, released today by education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, has 11 categories. These are overall, research institutions, university, engineering, management, pharmacy, colleges, medical, law, architecture and dental.

NIRF ranking 2022 list is based on the following parameters: teaching, learning and resources , research and professional practice, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, peer perception. Over 7,000 institutions participated in this year’s NIRF ranking.
