All licensed medical practitioners, MBBS doctors have to register on NMR portal using degree, registration certificate, and Aadhaar Card.
NEW DELHI: The Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has commenced the registration of Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs) on the National Medical Register (NMR) portal.
NMR will replace the Indian Medical Register (IMR) and will display the information of a licensed medical practitioners such as their name, identification number, registration number, place of work, qualifications, speciality and name of the institute from where they received qualifications. Doctors across the country will have a unique identification number (UID) with the NMR.
Union health minister Jagat Prakash Nadda inaugurated the register for all eligible MBBS doctors. It is mandatory for the medical board to maintain an online register under the NMC Act.
“The uniqueness of the NMR is that it is linked with Aadhaar ID of the doctors that ensures the individual's authenticity. The whole process of registration in NMR is very simple online process and all the medical colleges/institutions (including INIs etc.)/SMCs are inter-linked on the portal. Some data will be visible to the public and others will only be visible to EMRB in NMC, SMC, NBE and Medical Institutions (including INIs, etc.) and RMPs as per the requirements,” the medical commission said.

The doctor must also keep ready the Aadhaar number to start the process.
