According to NMC, the university is inviting online applications for MBBS on the basis of a high court judgment in a separate case. NMC explained that the university in Rajasthan claims that the High Court in the case of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has held that there is no provision in the IMC Act which authorizes and empowers Board of Governors- Medical Council of India (BoG-MCI) to grant permission or recognition to IGNOU to enable it to take admission and impart education in MBBS and other medical courses.
“The said institution mischievously claims that it is covered by a judgment of the High Court without referring to the cause title and the Court that has pronounced it,” Samir Sinha, Deputy Secretary of the Government of India said in the notice. NMC termed the university’s claim as “baseless, frivolous” and “in complete violation of law made by the Parliament.
