NEW DELHI: SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) hosted a senior leadership delegation from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) to bring together academic experts to discuss and promote collaborative applied research, curriculum development, internships, and placements for students.
NMIMS meeting with Virginia Tech delegation was held on February 13 and 14 at the Mumbai campus in which researchers from both the university highlighted the vision on research and their achievements in terms of areas of research, spanning schools, citations, the number, and quality of papers presented over the years, the patents awarded and funding received.
The universities presented their shared goals, objectives, and priorities regarding research while exploring new research frontiers. Dr Sharad Mhaiskar, Pro Vice-Chancellor, SVKM’s NMIMS, spoke about the stellar work done by the Atal Incubation Centre, encouraging research and a startup temperament. This was followed by a meeting of the Virginia Tech delegates with Dr Ramesh Bhat, Vice-Chancellor, SVKM’s NMIMS, for further discussions on research collaboration.

Earlier NMIMS and Virginia Tech jointly launched a new dual-degree programme offering Master of Science (Economics) for a duration of two years, with one year at NMIMS and the next year at Virginia Tech, USA. The curriculum focus is on experiential and skill-based learning that is designed to meet the demands of the modern corporation, the government, and academia.
