NMMS West Bengal 2023: Registration starts at wbsed.gov.in; apply by July 25

The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education (MoE) conducts the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) exam for the students of Class 8 annually to provide scholarships to students of economically weaker sections.
NEW DELHI: The registration for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship, or NMMS, West Bengal is underway. Students can apply for the scholarship exam on wbsed.gov.in. The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education (MoE) conducts the NMMS exam for the students of Class 8 annually to provide scholarships to candidates belonging to economically weaker sections.

Online application for the scholarship exam began on June 23, 2023. Eligible candidates can apply before the last date July 25, 2023. The exam will be conducted on December 17, 2023.
The state-level NMMSE will be conducted in two sessions on the same day in an online mode having multiple choice questions (MCQs) of 90 marks for each session. The exam comprises a mental ability test and a scholastic aptitude test of 90 minutes each.

NMMS 2023: Who can apply
Students of Class 8 who secured 55% and above marks in the final examination of Class 7 are eligible to appear in the centrally sponsored NMMS Examination, 2023 for Class 8. A five percent relaxation is given to SC, ST, and disabled candidates. The annual income of parents should be below Rs 3,50,000 and an income certificate supporting the same must be uploaded.
Students must be studying in recognized government schools/government-aided schools/local body and government-sponsored schools including madrasahs without residential facilities.
Students from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, and state government-run residential schools or any private school are not entitled to the scholarship.

Steps to apply

Click on the ‘New User Register Here’ link.

Fill up the personal details along with your mobile number and email id, a registration number will be generated, save it for future reference.

Login to your account using your registration number and password.

Fill in other details and upload your passport-size photograph and save it.

A printout of the application along with the format for the Certificate from the Head of the School/Institution (HOI) should be taken out.

The HOI Certificate must be signed with an official seal and uploaded the signed Certificate to his/her account along with a scanned copy of (i) the Income certificate of the parent (ii) the First page of the bank passbook (iii) the Caste certificate (iv) the Disability certificate

The documents must be duly authenticated by the concerned School Authority.
