Observe Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas on November 15 to celebrate tribal leaders: UGC to institutes
UGC asked universities to spread the legacy of tribal leaders like Bhagawan Birsa Munda, and other great personalities and unsung heroes of Janjati communities.

NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission has suggested all higher educational institutions to organise activities to celebrate 'Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas', the birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, on November 15, 2022.
The Government of India has declared November 15, the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, as 'Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas'.
Suggesting two activities, the UGC said in its latest notice, “In order to celebrate the occasion on 15th November 2022 in the higher educational institutions, following activities may be considered to be carried out in the institutions”
The commission asked universities to disseminate the legacy of tribal leaders like Bhagawan Birsa Munda, as well as other great personalities and unsung heroes of Janjati communities.

On the occasion of Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), a debate competition on the theme 'Contribution of Janjati Heroes in Freedom Struggle' be held amongst students, and the students be felicitated for their work, it said.
The UGC also requested all the universities and their affiliated colleges to encourage their faculty, staff, and students to carry out the activities and celebrate 'Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas' on November 15, 2022, with zeal and enthusiasm.
It also asked the institutions to promote the events and programmes organized on the day through social media platforms for wider outreach.
