Odisha’s Centurion University of Technology and Management opens School of Law

NEW DELHI: Centurion University of Technology and Management has inaugurated CUTM School of Law at Jatni near Bhubaneswar, in Odisha.

Former Supreme Court judges MR Shah and Dinesh Maheshwari, and Odisha advocate general Ashok Parija were present during the inaugural ceremony.

CUTM Vice-Chancellor Supriya Pattanayak said, “The inception of CUTM School of Law displays the tradition of the university of catering to diverse needs of students and society. The School of Law will focus on making students future ready to navigate the legal complexities.”

The dignitaries present on the occasion acknowledged the robust infrastructure of the school and commended the team for the moot court hall. The university said the initiative aims at imparting quality legal education and experiential learning. The hands-on legal training, which will be imparted to the students, has been cited as one of the best methodologies of legal education, it added.

The CUTM, which is the only university in the country to be recognised as a centre of excellence by the ministry of skill development, had last month inked an agreement with Jawaharlal Nehru University for institutional collaboration, it said. The pact will allow sharing of best practices and knowledge while delivering industry-driven skill-integrated higher and vocational education.

The CUTM was founded in 2010 and aims at imparting skill-integrated higher education. The university has six campuses at Bhubaneswar, Paralakhemundi, Bolangir, Rayagada, Balasore and Chatrapur. Its educational approach has received acknowledgment from Union and state governments, international institutions, including UNESCO, World Bank and McKinsey, and public policy think-tank such as NITI Aayog.
