PM Narendra Modi to launch Mission Schools of Excellence in Gujarat

The Mission of Schools of Excellence, with an investment of over Rs 10,000 crore will launched at noon by PM Modi in Gujarat.
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be launching the Mission Schools of Excellence at Tri Mandir’s Dadanagar Convention Hall, Gandhinagar today, October 19, 2022. The event will be attended by over 20,00 teachers and school management committee members in Gujarat.
Gujarat education minister, Jitu Vaghani shares the following details about the project- Under the programme, 50,000 classrooms, 1.5 lakh smart classrooms, 5,000 Atal Tinkering labs and 20,000 computer labs will be built across Gujarat in the next four-years.
After the launch, the first stage of school infrastructure worth over RS 5,567 crore will commence. The event will be telecasted live via BISAG TV and social media, approximately 1 crore students and teachers will have access to the broadcast.

This initiative aims to strengthen Gujarat government schools with more than 120 students and transform them in Schools of Excellence. Under the mission, 20,000 government schools including 15,000 primary schools and 5,000 grant-aid secondary schools have been selected for development by the Gujarat government. The number of students in these schools have been estimated to increase from 59 lakh to 63 lakh.
“Currently, works worth Rs 1,650 crore are under tender processes in more than 7,000 schools towards construction of 8,000 classrooms and over 20,000 other facilities. Further, works worth more than Rs 2,881 crore will be taken up soon for constructing 13,500 classrooms in more than 4,000 schools and for building hostels, District Institute for Education and Training (DIET) buildings, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) complexes,” the education minister added.
PM Modi will also inaugurate the DefExpo22 aimed at showcasing the manufacturing capacities of India's defense, the India Urban Housing Conclave-2022 and lay foundation stones to various projects today in Rajkot.
