The University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations also prescribe foreign school-level qualifications for admission into undergraduate and equivalent programmes in Indian institutions, subject to prescribed conditions.
Now, through the new reforms, the UGC will facilitate the mobility of students and promote the internationalisation of the Indian education system, the chairman said.

UGC Regulations: Students will be able to apply for equivalence certificates on dedicated portal. So far, AIU has been granting foreign degree equivalence.

"Some schools have increased fees up to 20 per cent, some 40 per cent, some 65 per cent and some even up to 82 per cent," Saurabh Bharadwaj, president of Delhi AAP said.
"In our opinion, this is the case where the entire selection process is vitiated and tainted beyond resolution. Manipulations and frauds on a large scale, coupled with attempts to cover-up, have dented the selection process beyond repair, the apex court said.
In light of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, a slew of initiatives for academic reforms have been undertaken like multiple entry and exit options, Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) etc, the minister said.
