Pondicherry University PhD admission 2023 registration begins; eligibility, fees

NEW DELHI: Pondicherry University has started the PhD admission 2023 process. Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria will have to appear in the Pondicherry University PhD entrance examination to be considered for admission for the academic year 2023-24.

Pondicherry University application form will have to be filled through the official website pondiuni.edu.in. Unreserved category students will have to pay an application fee of Rs 1,000 and SC, ST should make a payment of Rs 500. Those under the physically challenged category and transgenders will be exempted from paying registration fee.

The last date to submit the application form for the various PhD programmes offered at the university is June 29, 2023. Candidates will have to opt 3 exam centres in the order of preference in form. Based on the choices filled, the university will allot the exam centre to appear in the entrance exam.

As per the selection criteria, 70% weightage will be given to the Pondicherry University PhD entrance exam and 30% to personal interview and academic record.

PU Entrance Exam 2023: Eligibility criteria

Candidates who secure 50% marks in the entrance test will be called for the interview; 5% relaxation will be given to SC, ST, OBC, EWS candidates.

As per the eligibility criteria, candidates who have studied under Class 12 and three-year bachelor’s degree and two-year master’s degree can apply for the entrance exam. They must have secured a minimum of 55% marks.

Those students who qualified for the master’s degree in the faculty of law, engineering and technology, agriculture, veterinary science or the degree of Doctor of Medicine or Master of Surgery in the Faculty of medicine, dentistry, paramedical of this university or any other university, through regular full-time study by securing a minimum of 55% marks will be eligible to apply for part-time or full-time PhD course.

“A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade is allowed for those belonging to SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently-abled categories,” the university informed.
