15 scholarships for school children with deadlines in January 2022

Over a dozen scholarships for school children, including the centrally-sponsored pre-matric scholarships, for below Class 10, are closing for applications in January.

The earliest deadline is January 14, for Manipur applicants for the pre-matric scholarship. It is offered by the ministry of social justice and empowerment for students from the historically-marginalised Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (SC) and Other Backward Classes (OBC). There are also scholarships for disabled children, merit-cum-means (MCM) scholarships, financial aid for girls and their families, and scholarships specifically established to help students through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Given below is a list of scholarships whose deadlines are in January 2022, arranged by the state, nature of scholarship and deadline.

Pre-matric scholarships 2022

Telangana

1. Name of the scholarship : Telangana State Pre - Matric Scholarship 2022 for SC, ST, BC, Disabled Welfare Students

Provided by: The State Government of Telangana

Eligibility:

(i) Belong to SC, ST, BC or Disabled category

(ii) Studying in Class 9 or 10

(iii) Family income should not exceed Rs 2 lakh per annum (For SC, ST, BC, Minority of the urban areas) and Rs 1.5 lakh per annum (For BC, Minority welfare students of rural areas) and Rs 1 lakh for EBC and Disabled Welfare Students

Manipur

2. Name of the scholarship: Centrally Sponsored Pre - Matric Scholarship for SC Students Studying in Class 9 and 10 - Manipur

Provided by: Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India

Eligibility:

(i) Be a resident of Manipur, belonging to SC community (ii) Annual income of the family should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh per annum

(iii) Candidate must not be getting any other scholarship

5. Name of the scholarship: Pre - Matric ST Scholarship Scheme - Tripura

Eligibility:

(i) Belong to Scheduled Tribe, with the family income not exceeding Rs 2 lakh per annum

(ii) Be a regular, full time student in a government school or any school recognized by the government or a central or Board of secondary education

(iii) Not be a recipient of any other scholarship

7. Name of the scholarship: Centrally Sponsored Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for ST Students (Class 9 and 10) - Andaman and Nicobar

Eligibility:

(i) Be a permanent citizen of Andaman and Nicobar, belonging to ST community

(ii) Studying in any class from Class 9 or Class 10, in a government school or any school recognised by the State Government or Central Government or Board of Secondary Education

Scholarship for students with disabilities

11. Name of the scholarship: Scholarship for Top Class Education for Students with Disabilities

Provided by: Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India

Eligibility:

(i) Open to students with disabilities of 40% and above and having a valid certificate of the same approved under "Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016"

(ii) Family income should not be above Rs 2.5 lakh per annum

(iii) Only two children with disability from a single-family can avail this scholarship

12. Name of the scholarship: National Means Cum Merit Scholarship

(i) Takes up studies in approved courses

(ii) Maintains good conduct as certified by the Head of the College or Institution and continues his or her studies as a regular student in Government or Government aided or Local body school

Puducherry

13. Name of the scholarship: Retention Scholarship to SC Girl Students - Puducherry

(iii) The student and their parent must be a permanent resident of Pondicherry, or they must have stayed for 3 years continuously in Pondicherry

15. Name of the scholarship: Aditya Birla Capital COVID Scholarship Program

Eligibility

(i) Must be studying any of the Classes from 1 to 12 or in an Undergraduate course or General or Professional

(ii) Candidates who have lost either one or both parents due to Covid -19 Pandemic and are facing financial crisis to continue education due to the same.
