President Droupadi Murmu inaugurates Visitors Conference 2025

NEW DELHI: The president of India Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the two-day Visitor’s Conference 2024-25 at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, March 3. The president of India is the Visitor of 184 central institutes of higher education. According to the PIB statement, she said institutes have a major role in establishing India as the centre of knowledge economy.

The president Droupadi Murmu said the country's development reflects the quality of its education system.

“She highlighted the need to pay a lot of attention to research along with education. She said that the government of India has established the National Research Fund with a very good objective,” the PIB statement said.

President says the higher education community should make our researchers gain recognition at the world level, and so that institutes can bring changes in the education system by attracting students from other countries for higher education.

President highlighted the need to utilize the talent of students and also establish India as a global knowledge hub, which can only be achieved when the community adopts the work being done in our laboratories.

The president said that academic excellence, social inclusion, and sensitivity should also be a part of our education system.

“No economic, social, or psychological limitation of any kind should be a hindrance in getting higher education. She said that heads and teachers of institutions of higher learning should take care of young students, remove any insecurity from their minds and provide them moral and spiritual strength,” the PIB statement added.

President presents eighth Visitor’s Awards

The president presented the 8th Visitor’s awards in categories of innovation, research, and technology development. The list of visitors awards included – for Innovation to Saripella Srikrishna from Banaras Hindu University (BHU); for research in the field of physical sciences to Ashwini Kumar Nangia from University of Hyderabad; for research in biological sciences jointly presented to Rina Chakrabarti from University of Delhi (DU) and Raj Kumar from Central University of Punjab; and lastly award for technology development was presented to Venkateswarlu Chintala frpm Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya.

According to PIB statement, tomorrow will be held on issues such as flexibility in academic courses, credit sharing, credit transfer, internationalisation efforts and collaboration; translation research and innovation, student selection processes, including other and the outcome of these deliberations will be presented to the President in the closing session of the conference.
