NEW DELHI: President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH Vishwavidyalaya at Gorakhpur today, the president’s office announced on social media.
“President Ram Nath Kovind laid the foundation stone for the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH Vishwavidyalaya at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh,” President of India said in a social media post.

During the foundation laying ceremony of the university, President Kovind said that AYUSH medicine systems have played an important role in boosting the immunity of people in the fight against COVID-19, especially during the second wave of the pandemic.
While the ministry of AYUSH was formed in 2014 for the systematic education and research in the fields of these medicine systems, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath established the department of AYUSH in 2017, president said, according to an official statement.
Kovind said that he is confident that with the establishment of this university, AYUSH medical institutes will do better work in the field of medicines.

“He expressed confidence that the establishment of Mahayogi Gorakhnath AYUSH University in Gorakhpur would further boost the education and popularity of AYUSH systems,” said the official statement.
