Professor Shambhu Nath Singh appointed new Vice-Chancellor of Tezpur University Assam

Shambhu Nath Singh will succeed Dhruba Kumar Bhattacharyya who has been serving as an acting Vice-Chancelllor at Tezpur University.
NEW DELHI: Tezpur University gets a new Vice-Chancellor in professor Shambhu Nath Singh. Singh has been a professor in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). The new Vice-Chancellor, appointed by the President of India, will serve for period of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier
Singh obtained PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi based on a thesis adjudged as the ‘Best Thesis’ of the year “Sanchar-Kranti Aur Vikassheel Desh” (Communication Revolution and Developing Countries).

He also served as Vice-Chancellor of Patna University Bihar. He was also the founding director of the School of Journalism and New Media Studies of IGNOU, as per a statement on the IGNOU official website.
Singh will succeed Dhruba Kumar Bhattacharyya who has been serving as an acting Vice-Chancelllor at Tezpur University.

Singh, according to IGNOU website, has been visiting professor to the Indian Institute of Mass Communication New Delhi, International Media Institute Gurgaon, and senior professor Jagran Institute of Management and Mass Communication NOIDA.
He is also the visitor’s nominee to Dr Hari Singh Gaur University Sagar MP, Maulana Azad National Urdu University Hyderabad and Chancellor’s nominee to Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi and Lucknow University, UP, a statement on the IGNOU website said. He was the chairman of the Draft Statute Committee for Promotion and Appointments in Universities in Bihar.
Singh is also associated with various central and state universities as member of Board of Studies, Curriculum Committee, Finance Committee and Selection Committees, it added.
