School Reopening: All schools and colleges, which remained closed since January 10 because of the third wave of Covid-19, reopened on February 4.

NEW DELHI: Puducherry Home and Education Minister A Namassivayam said that the schools will reopen for LKG, UKG students from March 14, 2022, after being shut for nearly 2 years due to Covid-19 pandemic.
“Schools have been directed to make proper arrangements and to ensure that Covid-appropriate behaviour is followed in schools,” the minister said, as per the ANI report.

All schools and colleges, which remained closed since January 10 because of the third wave of Covid-19, reopened on February 4. A spokesman of the directorate of education said the institutions would function on all six days and were asked to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
All government and private schools in Puducherry and Karaikal regions observed holiday on February 16 on account of the Maasi Magam festival.
The union territory of Puducherry logged only one new coronavirus case in the last 24 hours and zero fatalities, a senior Health Department official said on Sunday. The solitary infection reported from the Puducherry region was detected at the end of the examination of 401 samples and took the overall tally to 1,65,759, Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release.
No fresh fatality was reported from any of the four regions-Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam and the death toll remained at 1,962, he said.
In other news, Kerala state education minister V Sivankutty earlier this month said that the schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council For the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CICSE) in Kerala are yet to resume physical classes in the state. The Kerala education minister pointed out that the school reopening guidelines issued by the state government is applicable for CBSE, ICSE schools also.
