Punjab Subordinate Service Federation launches agitation demanding regularisation of jobs

NEW DELHI: The Punjab Subordinate Service Federation (PSSF) today launched an agitation, under which four groups will visit various cities of Punjab, to hold protests demanding regularisation of contractual teachers and other employees, restoration of old pension scheme, scrapping National Education Policy (NEP 2020).

They started their march from Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar; Khatkar Kalan in SBS Nagar; Hussainiwala in Firozpur and Chapparchidi in Mohali.

The group which started its journey from Khatkar Kalan is led by Tirth Singh Bassi, state general Secretary of PSF. He said, “the Punjab government has promised to solve their issues but the matter has been resolved yet. Instead, the AAP government brought an anti-employee policy, which will affect the services being given to the people”, he said.

He also targeted the state government for spending several crores on advertisement and publicity.

The employees union is demanding restoration of the old pension scheme (OPS) for all government departments and semi-government institutions, fixing the honorarium and incentive to employees, filling the vacant posts through regular recruitment and rectifying the shortcomings and also to issue the remaining 6th pay commission.

Revision and restoration of allowances that were discontinued, restoration of full salary to an employee if he is on a trial, removal of restrictions on hiring on compassionate grounds and privatisation of institutions and scrapping of National Education Policy, NEP2020 were among the demands.

The union also asked for raising the skill allowance of mid-day meal workers as it has not been increased for one-and-a-half years.
