Rising demand for overseas education

Delhi is continuing to emerge as a major hub for students looking to study abroad, with interest growing consistently over the past few years. Data shared by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) shows that demand from the city has been rising at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.9% since 2022, and the number of students from Delhi studying overseas is expected to reach about 1.33 lakh by 2025. This growth reflects a clear shift towards globally recognised degrees, practical, industry-focused courses, and better career opportunities after graduation.

The trend is visible across the country as well. According to the latest QS Global Student Flows: India report, more than 80 lakh Indian students were enrolled in institutions abroad in 2024. Countries like the US, UK, and Canada remain the most popular choices, continuing to draw the largest share of Indian students. Overall, the number of Indians going overseas for higher education has been growing at an average rate of 11% between 2022 and 2025.
