REET 2024 registration deadline tomorrow; negative marking, new OMR rule

NEW DELHI: The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education will close the registration window for the Rajasthan Eligibility cum Entrance Test (REET) 2024 exam tomorrow, January 15. Interested candidates who have not yet applied can fill out the REET 2024 application form through the official website at rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in.

Candidates who want to appear for REET level 1 or level 2 will have to pay an application fee of Rs 550 each. However, candidates opting to appear for both levels have to pay a combined fee of Rs 750.

As per the schedule, REET 2024 exam is scheduled to be held on February 27, 2025 at various exam centres across the state. The exam will be conducted in two shifts from 10 am to 12:30 pm, and the second shift from 3 pm to 5:30 pm.

The REET admit card 2024 will be issued on February 19, 2025. Candidates will have to key in their login credentials including their registration number and password to download the REET 2024 admit card.

REET new OMR rule

The board has introduced a new OMR rule for REET exam among other changes. The REET question paper will now have five options instead of four, the board said while announcing the marking scheme for the exam.

As per the REET new OMR rule, there will be 5 options for a question instead of four. It has also introduced a negative marking scheme for wrong responses.

If a candidate has marked an incorrect answer from the 5 choices, a negative mark will be awarded. 0.33 marks out of the total marks awarded to a question will be deducted for every wrong answer.

REET 2024 eligibility criteria

Candidates can check the REET 2024 eligibility criteria given below-

  1. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks, and either a passed or appearing 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (under any name).
  2. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks, and a passed 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (under any name), as per the NCTE (Recognition, Norms, and Procedure) Regulation, 2002.
  3. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks, and a passed or appearing 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
