Rain Updates: Schools will remain closed tomorrow for all students till Class 12 in Hathras and Damoh districts in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh respectively.
NEW DELHI: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rainfall in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh over the next two to three days. In view of the rainfall alert, several districts in the states have closed the schools for all classes today. The weather department warned of moderate to high risk of flash floods in several areas, particularly in parts of west Uttar Pradesh, east and west Madhya Pradesh.
The heavy rainfall could trigger localised flooding of roads, waterlogging in low-lying areas, and the closure of underpasses, especially in urban regions, the IMD said. “Traffic disruptions are likely due to waterlogged roads, and visibility may be reduced in some areas. Minor damage to kutcha (unpaved) roads and vulnerable structures is possible, along with landslides and damage to crops due to the rain and wind, the IMD said, as per the PTI report.
In an official order, Agra has announced school closure for nursery classes to Class 12 in all government, non-government, private schools. The officials have directed school administration to change the internal exams and practicals scheduled today and to inform parents and students about the revised dates.
“Teachers will work as per the instructions of the school management. Strict compliance of the said order should be ensured,” it said.
Jalaun, Auraiya, Lalitpur, Jhansi, Aligarh, Hathras, Eta, and Kannauj have also issued separate school holiday orders. Hathras has, however, announced to shut schools on September 12 and 13 as well.
District administrations Bhopal, Gwalior, and Damoh in Madhya Pradesh have also announced to close schools today. Damoh has instructed all government and private schools and Anganwadis to remain closed on September 13 as well.
