SFI, SIO condemn 'attack' on pro-Palestine demonstrators at EFLU Hyderabad, plan more protests tomorrow

The Student Federation of India (SFI) and the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) have condemned the attack on students of the EFLU campus in Hyderabad by ABVP, and the state police of Telangana.

The federation, in its official statement, said that ABVP allegedly unleashed brutal violence on students at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) campus in Hyderabad, who were protesting against the Israeli actions , and showing solidarity with the victims of Palestine.

“The Hyderabad police also joined the ABVP to protect them and brutally attacked the students. This is an attack on the democratic rights of the students in EFLU,” the federation said.

The SIO, on the other hand, condemning the act of violence against the EFLU Hyderabad students, demanded an immediate withdrawal of the false FIR against the students.

Students' body urges INC to clear stance

The students’ body has also urged the Indian National Congress, ruling the state of Telangana, to clarify their stand on the Israeli genocide in Palestine. The organisation also urged the government to take action against those responsible for violence and intimidation.

Highlighting the incidents of the violence, Talha Mannan, national campus secretary, SIO of India, said: “It is deeply concerning that the police, instead of ensuring student safety, sided with violent ABVP cadres who attacked the peaceful gathering, vandalized campus spaces, and harassed women students. Such blatant misuse of state machinery to shield aggressors and silence student voices is unacceptable.”

“The state government should also be answerable to the students and the public on the alignment of the state police with the Sangh Parivar organisations for attacking the students,” the SFI said.

In addition, the federation also announced that it will conduct 1,800 demonstrations in solidarity with the Palestinian cause from October 8 to 15, 2025.
