Shiv Nadar School Gurgaon organises first Inter-School Poetry Slam Competition

NEW DELHI, APRIL 30: Shiv Nadar School Gurgaon organised the first inter-school poetry slam competition in Delhi NCR. In recent times, poetry slam competitions have gained popularity among the college-going youth. However, this event in the National Capital Region was the first organized event where school children showcased their talent in the field of performance poetry.
The Shri Ram School Moulsari was declared the overall winner based on their performance in different categories. The competition had three segments --- Solo, Duet and Pour it on Paper (instant written poetry slam). The themes for the solo segment were Jigsaw, Reflection and The Self. The themes for the Duet segment were The World and Us, Pop Culture and Identity.
Pour it on Paper segment had themes such as A Piece of Jazz music, Journey and An Object: Message in a Bottle. The first prize winner in the Solo segment was Shriya Nayyar from Suncity World School. The first prize winner in the duet segment was Shreaya Gupta and Pranshu Yadav from Shiv Nadar School Gurgaon, but since the host school did not compete for the trophy, the next school were declared winners --- Aryan Dewan and Maulshree Pant from DPS Sushant Lok.
The first prize winner of the Pour it on Paper segment was Suhasini Singh from The Shri Ram School Moulsari. The overall trophy went to the school that scored the highest in all the events put together.
On the occasion, Monica Sagar, Principal, Shiv Nadar School Gurgaon said, "Since time immemorial the youth has always spoken out and that has led to some historic changes. Poetry slam allows the youth to express more and for the first time an event at this scale in this genre has happened at the school level. We had requested the participating students for a written copy of their poetry to check for plagiarism."
The participating schools were Suncity School, Tagore International School, Scottish High, Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad, Vasant Valley, TSRS Aravalli. DPS Sushant Lok, Heritage Rohini, Pathways Noida, TSRS Moulsari, Shiv Nadar School, Noida and Shiv Nadar School, Gurgaon.
