All claims of lockdown in India and schools and colleges to be closed due to covid-19 is 'bogus', fact check social media posts before sharing says PIB.

NEW DELHI: The press information bureau (PIB) debunks social media posts claiming that schools and colleges will remain closed due to the new wave of covid-19 in India. "All these claims are bogus," says the bureau.

The resurgence of covid-19 cases in India has lead to thousands of fake social media posts that claim that the country will go into lockdown yet again and all schools and colleges will be shut. PIB asks students to fact check such posts before sharing any information related to covid.

All students, teachers and staff is required to get all three doses of covid-19 vaccine, wear masks and practice social distancing. The official order to close schools and colleges will come only from the central government and each state government. For the time being, schools and colleges will stay open unless orders say otherwise.

Multiple accounts on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms having a discourse on the need for lockdown in India. “There won't be a lockdown situation in the country since 95% of the people here are vaccinated. The immunity system of Indians is stronger than that of the Chinese...India needs to go back to covid basics - testing, treating, tracing”, said Indian Medical Association, Anil Goyal to ANI.

In December 2022, prime minster Narendra Modi chaired a meeting to review the public health response to covid-19. He stressed on ramping up testing, genome sequencing and to ensure operational readiness of covid infrastructure.

The Ministry of health and family welfare gave a report on covid-19 in Indian as of 7 AM on January 4, 2023. According to the report, over 220.11 crore covid vaccines have been administered to the Indian public, while the daily positive rate stands at 0.09%. The recovery rate in Indian covid patients is at 98.80%
