SRM University, AP conducts first convocation with NYU president as chief guest

NEW DELHI: SRM University, Andhra Pradesh held its first convocation on December 1 in APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium and also streamed the event on Youtube and Streamyard, a browser based streaming platform.
Andrew D Hamilton, president of New York University, USA, was the chief guest at the event. Sethuraman Panchanathan, director of the US National Science Foundation (NSF), was conferred with honorary doctorate.

The first BTech batch has achieved 100% placement with an average salary of Rs 7 lakh per annum. Overall undergraduate engineering students have been placed in various renowned companies such as Amazon, Paypal, Bank of America, Standard Chartered Bank, TCS, Infosys etc., according to a statement from SRM University.
24 students from the first batch have secured admission to the higher studies programmes in the top QS ranked universities in India and abroad such as University of Michigan, New York University, Georgia Tech, Madison King's College, London, the university statement said.

Two students Rajarshi Majumdar and Saptarshi Majumdar from computer science engineering have bagged a twin placement offer at PVP Inc Japan, a strategic partner of Google Japan with a salary package of Rs 50 lakh per annum. In addition to this, Khushbu Sharma from BTech Computer Science received an NVS internship offer at Adobe India with a monthly stipend of Rs 1 lakh, as per the statement.
Currently, there are more than 4500 students from different states across India and abroad studying in the university. In the last three years, faculty members have published over 700 research papers in scopus index journals such as nature, nature communications and others, the university said.

42 patents have been filed, 32 published, and 3 granted in the past three years by the faculty members of the university. This year, faculty from the engineering and science department have been granted 6 DST SERB projects and Ramanujan fellowship, the statement said.
Moreover, the university has signed agreements with various educational institutions, research and industrial establishments during the past year such as Titan India, Tanishq, Asia University Taiwan, Harvard Business School online and Lindus University Australia, the statement further said.
