SSC CGL 2025 Tier-1: 25 shifts cancelled, 33 centres dropped; Commission says exams on track

The SSC clarified that only 25 shifts out of the planned 2,435 shifts have been cancelled so far, and all 7,705 affected candidates have already been allotted news dates.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has dismissed widespread speculation of large-scale cancellations of ongoing Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE 2025), and clarified that the recruitment exams are being conducted “smoothly” across the country. Only 25 shifts have been cancelled so far.

The clarification by the commission comes after candidates flooded social media with claims of cancellation in multiple exam centres. Notably, the SSC had earlier announced that the SSC CGL exam will be conducted in 260 centres in 129 cities, however, the latest update shows examinations are now being conducted in 227 centres; a drop of 33 centres.
The SSC CGL exam which began on September 12 will continue till September 26. The exam is being held in three shifts per day for more than 28 lakh candidates who registered for the exam. Till Monday, 3,01,722 candidates had taken the exam, it said.

Refuting the claims of large-scale cancellation, the SSC officials said: “Out of a total of 2,435 shifts planned across all the centres, only 25 shifts in some centres have been cancelled to date. All 7,705 affected candidates have already been rescheduled for alternate dates."
"In the exam scheduled on September 15, no centres have been cancelled and the examination is going on smoothly at all centres across the country," the officials added.
The commission assured students that the SSC CGL tier-1 exam remains on track. “Only a small number of shifts have been affected, and all impacted candidates have already been given alternate dates,” it added.
In the first-two days , candidates alleged technical difficulties, glitches, and mismanagement despite the commission’s promise for a “no-time-loss” and “glitch-free” exams. Multiple exam centres in Delhi-NCR, Gurugram, West Bengal, Jammu had cancelled either a shift or all three shifts. Most centres have announced that the rescheduled exam will be conducted between September 22 to 27.
The exam is conducted in four shifts – shift 1 from 9 am to 10 am, shift 2 from 11.45 am to 12.45 pm, shift 3 from 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm, and the fourth optional shift available for selected exam centres will be held from 5.15 pm to 6.15 pm.
