Study Abroad: Telangana invites overseas scholarship applications for SC students

Candidates who have secured admission in an institution in USA, Canada, Germany, France, UK, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand can apply for the scholarship.

NEW DELHI: The Telangana government has invited applications for the overseas scholarship for students belonging from scheduled castes in the state. Candidates whose family income is less than 5 lakhs per annum and fulfil the eligibility criteria can apply for the scholarship process on the official website, telanganaepass.cgg.gov.in, till March 31.

The scholarship is only available for students who have been accepted by an education institution in the USA, Canada, Germany, France, the UK, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. The scholarship will include a grant up to Rs 20 lakhs or as per admission letter, whichever is less. It will also include one-way economy air flight ticket and visa charges. Only one child from a family will be eligible for the scholarship.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates applying for the scholarship should not exceed 35 years of age. The student should have secured 60% in graduation, and an eligible score in GRE (280 marks) or GMAT (550 marks) and English proficiency test, TOEFL (60 marks) and IELTS (6 grade).

Students applying for the scholarship should have secured 60% marks or equivalent grade in foundation degree programmes. Those applying for the PhD course should have 60% marks or equivalent grade in postgraduate courses in engineering, management, sciences, agriculture sciences, medicine, social sciences and humanities.

Relaxation of 60% minimum marks in degree and PG will be considered for candidates who will get an adequate score in eligibility tests such as GRE or GMAT and IELTS and TOEFL. The students should have also secured an unconditional admission in the universities and institutions in the eligible countries in case the registrations are not up to the expected levels within the budget allocated.
