NEW DELHI: The district magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar has announced closure of all schools for summer vacation starting from today, May 20. The Noida school summer holidays 2024 have been announced in view of the extreme heat wave and summer. Schools up to Class 8 only will remain closed.
All schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate for Secondary Education (ICSE), International Baccalaureate (IB), Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP), and other boards will remain closed.
“In compliance with the instructions given by the District Magistrate, Gautam Buddha Nagar, in view of the summer vacation, in the schools (from class nursery to 08) recognized by all the boards (CBSE/ICSE/IB, UP Board and others) running in the district Gautam Buddha Nagar, there will be a holiday from today, May 20. The above order should be strictly followed,” said an official order from the administration.
Meanwhile, reacting to the fact that the official order is dated May 17, some parents and those concerned said on social media that it should have been announced on time while others demanded holidays for students of Classes 9 to 12.
“Officers should work keeping in mind the time and date, they cannot do it whenever they want, the order is dated 17th and today on 20th at 07:45 the order is being passed, all officers should understand their responsibility, thank you,” said an X user in a post.
Another user commented, “If this order of 17th had been received on 18th or 19th, then perhaps the children could have been saved from the heat, but for today it is too late, the children of the schools which are open have already gone to school. Keeping the health of children in mind, such orders should be displayed on time.”
“Schools are not aware of the order. I think it is just a formality, when the order was given on 17th May, and it is circulating now, it is neither "Serious" nor "Strictly" as mentioned in the letter,” an X post read.
