Jharkhand schools up to Class 8 closed till further orders due to heat wave

NEW DELHI: The Department of School Education and Literacy, Jharkhand has announced closure of all schools up to Class 8 due to heat wave till further orders. The school timings for students of classes 9 to 12 will be 7 am to 11:30 am. Prayer meetings or sports and other outdoor activities will not be conducted during this period, the department ordered.

“Due to extreme heat and heat wave in Jharkhand state, keeping in mind the possibility of adverse health effects on students, classes from KG up to Class 8 in all categories of government, non-government aided/unaided (including minority) and all private schools are postponed till further orders,” the department said in an official notice.

The government said that this order will not be applicable to teachers and non-teaching staff of government, non-government aided, unaided (including minority) schools and a separate order will be issued for the summer vacation payable to teachers or the non-teaching staff.

The Jharkhand school department asked the teachers and the non-teaching staff to ensure to attend the school every day during the scheduled school hours and issued the following orders:

  • Evaluate the answer sheets of the annual examination from class 1 to 7, complete the work of publishing results, preparation of report cards and entering student-wise marks of students online in e-VidyaVahini.
  • Complete 100% entry of student data in UDISE Plus.
  • Cataloging of the books available in the school library and ensuring its maintenance.
  • Maintain updates of all types of school registers, bank passbooks, cashbooks etc.
  • Do the enrollment of students coming for the academic session 2024-25.
  • Prepare class-wise and subject-wise curriculum plan and related teaching-learning materials for the academic session 2024-25.
  • All teachers will register themselves in J-Guruji Application for their capacity building and watch the video contents available on it.
  • All types of residential schools will continue to operate as before.
