SC to hear FAIMA PIL seeking NTA overhaul, CBI probe into NEET paper leak

Amid the ongoing Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) led protest for NEET examination, the Supreme Court is going to hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) and the United Doctors' Front (UDF) regarding the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination process. It is represented through Dr. Rohan Krishnan.

The PIL seeks to protect the interests of more than 2.2 million NEET aspirants by enhancing transparency, fairness, cybersecurity, and examination integrity as NEET moves towards a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format.

The PIL calls for replacing the National Testing Agency (NTA) with a newly constituted examination body equipped with advanced technology and stronger transparency measures to conduct national-level medical entrance exams without recurring irregularities.

The petition has also sought a court-supervised CBI investigation into the alleged NEET paper leak and the system lapses in the examination process.

The FAIMA latest tweet reads, “When students needed a voice, FAIMA stood with them—both legally and morally. Now resident doctors associations all over India are protesting under banner of FAIMA against NEET UG paper leak & for accountability of Exam.”

Meanwhile, the CJP has called for nationwide demonstrations on July 23 under the slogan, "Every district. One day. One demand." The group said protests will be held in every district, where participants will reach out their demands. Sonam Wangchuk ends his 26-day hunger strike on July 23, 2026 but the protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar will continue until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns, CJP spokesperson said.

Bombay HC directs NTA to produce original OMRs

In other news, the Bombay high court has issued notices to the centre and NTA on petitions filed by three re-NEET UG 2026 aspirants who alleged discrepancies between their calculated scores and the results declared by the NTA. The court has directed the agency to produce the petitioner's original OMR answer sheets and answer keys on July 30. the next date of hearing, while seeking its response in the matter.
