Tamil Nadu Class 6 to 9 half-yearly exams 2026 will begin from December 15. The DGE has notified the rules for reading time, verification, and exam duration for Class 6-12.

The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) will be conducting the half-yearly examination for Tamil Nadu Class 10, 11, and 12 from December 10 to 23. The Tamil Nadu Class 10, 12 half-yearly exam will be conducted in the morning session and the Class 11 exams in the afternoon.

Along with the half-yearly exam dates for the secondary and senior secondary classes, the DGE has also announced the schedule for the December examinations for Classes 6 to 9. The exams for lower classes will commence from December 15.
Students studying in Tamil Nadu Class 6 and 8 have been assigned the morning slot – from 10 am to 12.30 pm. The TN Class 5 and 9 students will be appearing for the half-yearly exams from 2 pm to 4 pm and 2pm to 4.30 pm respectively.
Tamil Nadu half-yearly exam timings
Class 10 and 12 students in Tamil Nadu schools will be given a 10-minute reading time between 9.45 am to 9.55 am to go through the TN half-yearly question paper and another five minutes to verification of particulars by the students. The exam will be held from 10 am to 1 pm. The timings for Class 12 are the same as Class 10 half-yearly exams.
The higher secondary first year students - Class 11 students – will get a reading time between 1.45 pm to 1.55 pm before the exam begins at 2 pm. The school exams for Class 11 students will conclude at 5 pm.
