The Tamil Nadu government decided to postpone the school reopening date for all students amid the changing weather conditions

The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has announced that all schools across the state will reopen on June 4. Amid the prevailing weather conditions and pre-monsoon activities, such as intermittent rainfall, humidity, and changing heat conditions, the TN government has postponed the school reopening date for Classes 6 to 12.
The decision followed requests from parents, teachers and other stakeholders for a uniform reopening date across all classes, aimed at ensuring administrative convenience and easing difficulties for families with children in different classes.
Earlier, the TN government announced that all government, aided, and private schools for the 2026-27 academic year will reopen on June 1.

Before schools reopen, the Tamil Nadu government has made sure that sanitation, drinking water, transport, and campus facilities are in order.
Educational officers across all districts have been asked to complete all necessary arrangements and prioritise student safety and well-being. Everyone, including parents, teachers, school managements, and the public, has been requested to extend their cooperation.
Recently, the Governor of Tamil Nadu approved the appointment of the newly formed cabinet led by chief minister C Joseph Vijay. In the education sector, Rajmohan has been appointed as the minister for school education, while KG Arunraj will serve as the Minister for Medical Colleges in the state.
