Telangana reduces school timings for primary, high schools in view of heat wave

Telangana school timing has been reduced from March 31 to April 6, 2022, as per an order by the director of school education.
NEW DELHI: Telangana school timing has been reduced to 8:00 am to 11:30 am from March 31 to April 6, 2022, as per an order by the director of school education due to a possible heatwave predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Mid-day meals will be provided to the students before 11:30 am.
"It has been decided to reduce the timings of half-day schools from March 31 to April 6, in view of the heatwave forecast. The schools i.e. primary, upper primary and high schools under all managements i.e. government, government-aided and private management shall function from 8 am to 11:30 am and midday meals shall be provided before 11 30 am," said the order.
The IMD had predicted an increase in temperature in Telangana state and said that there could be an increase in maximum temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees in certain parts of the state.
Recently, the Telangana government had implemented half-day school timing in Telangana from March 15 till the last working day. As per the decision, schools were to function from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
