TN Singh becomes new director of IIT Patna
IIT Patna: TN Singh joined on September 10. He has taught at IIT Bombay's department of Earth sciences.

NEW DELHI: TN Singh has been appointed the new director of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna and he took charge on September 10. IIT Patna welcomed him through a social media post.
TN Singh is a former Vice-chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi. He is an alumnus of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and has taught at IIT Bombay where he was in the department of Earth sciences.
IIT Patna's Twitter post said: "Prof. TN Singh has assumed charge of the Director, IIT Patna w.e.f 10.09.2021. Prof. Singh formerly was Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidhyapith, Varanasi. Prof. Singh is an alumni of BHU and Professor in the Dept. of Earth Sciences, IIT Bombay.”

Recently the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF 2021) India rankings were released for all colleges and Indian Institute of Technology’s (IITs) retained the top positions in overall and engineering category, with IIT Madras securing the first position sixth time in a row. IIT Patna by moving up five positions secured the 21st rank in the engineering category.
Also with state governments giving relaxations from COVID-19 induced lockdown noticing a dip in active COVID-19 cases, IIT Patna has decided to reopen the campus for students who have taken at least the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
