NIRF Ranking 2021: IIT Madras is the best educational institution in India

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Madras has retained its top spot in the overall university rankings in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF Ranking 2021) released by the education ministry. IIT Madras NIRF Ranking was the same for last year as well.

The NIRF ranking was released by education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

IISC Bengaluru and IIT Bombay have come second and third respectively in the NIRF ranking 2021. IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur make up the top five respectively. There are seven IITs in the top ten NIRF ranking.

NIRF ranking 2021 have been released for 11 categories including overall rankings, research institutions, university, engineering, management, pharmacy, colleges, medical, law, architecture and dental.

NIRF ranking 2021 are based on the following parameters: Teaching, learning and resources (TLR), research and professional practice (RP), graduation outcomes (GO), outreach and inclusivity (OI), peer perception.

While the top two institution in the overall category, IIT Madras and IISC Bengaluru, has remained the same, IIT Bombay has overtaken IIT Delhi into the third place this year compared to NIRF Ranking 2020.

The announcement of the NIRF ranking 2021 list was delayed by over three months this year as the NIRF ranking 2020 were announced in June last year.

IIT Madras was ranked first under the overall NIRF India ranking 2020. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru and IIT Delhi were ranked second and third. IIT Bombay , IIT Kharagpur respectively made up the top five.
