NEW DELHI, JUNE 28: Anna University has published the rank list of TNEA 2018. Candidates can now check the rank list in online mode after submitting their registered email id and password. Keerthana Ravi of Coimbatore has secured the top rank in the declared rank list. She had scored 1200 out of 1200 marks in the Kerala Board examination.

The position of the candidates in the released rank list will be taken into consideration while the candidates are allotted seats. Preference of college and courses along with the availability of seats will also be checked during allotment. The authorities have prepared the rank list considering the scores secured in the qualifying examination. Since there is no common entrance examination conducted, a normalization process has been adopted to prepare the rank list

How to access the released rank list?

Candidates can follow the given steps to access the rank list of TNEA:

  • The link to access the rank list is available in the official website of TNEA.

  • The candidates will have to submit their User ID and date of birth.

  • Click on “Login”

  • The rank list of TNEA will be displayed on the screen.

The rank of those candidates who have obtained the same marks was determined using the following points listed as per the order of priority:

  • Marks Percentage in Mathematics

  • Marks Percentage in Physics

  • Marks Percentage in fourth optional subject

  • Older candidates will be preferred for higher rank

  • The higher random number will have higher priority during rank allotment.

How is the rank list prepared?

Candidates may question how the rank list is prepared since no separate entrance examination is conducted:

  • While preparing the rank list, the authorities considered marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the respective qualifying examination but after reducing them to 200 (Mathematics – 100, Physics and Chemistry – 100).

  • Normalization of marks was also done since the applicants belonged to various boards.

What after TNEA Rank List?

Next, the selected candidates will have to fill their choices of colleges and courses. It has to be remembered that choices should be filled according to preference. Finally, the authorities will allot seats according to the candidates’ rank, choice filling and reservation (if applicable). The allotment order will be sent through email. The options to upgrade, confirm or withdraw the allotted seat will be offered to the candidates. Confirmation of admission at the allotted college has to be done before the final date.
