NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked universities to opt for online internship due to ongoing lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. As per the instructions provided by the UGC, it has also asked universities to delay the start date of internships.
As per a letter issued by the UGC, it has asked universities and colleges to allow the students to take up online internships including activities that can be carried out digitally or otherwise from home.
The UGC letter reads, “Engage them (students) to work as interns on ongoing projects. Delay the start date for the internship. Reduce the period of internship clubbing with assignments etc.”
UGC has stated that the instructions are advisory in nature and the universities may accordingly plan their activities keeping in view the safety and interest of the students.
