UGC invites applications from HEIs for recognition to offer online, ODL programmes

Colleges, universities can apply on the official website – deb.ugc.ac.in from March 15 to March 31 and submit offline by April 15.
NEW DELHI : The University Grants Commission (UGC) has invited applications from higher educational institutions (HEIs) for recognition to offer Online and Distance Learning (ODL) and online programmes from the academic year 2023-24. The online portal to submit applications will open on March 15 on the official website – ugc.ac.in. The last date to apply is March 31.
“UGC invites fresh applications from eligible higher educational institutions (HEIs) as per Regulation 3 (A) and Regulation 3 (B) of UGC (Open and Distance Learning Programmes and Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020 and its amendments for recognition of the programmes under Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode and/or online mode from academic year 2023-24, academic session beginning from July-August, 2023 and onwards,” the commission said in an official notice.

The institutions will have to submit the duly certified hard copy of the application along with original affidavit and annexure should reach by April 15, 2023 at UGC address.
UGC said that eligible colleges and universities which have been already recognized by UGC to offer ODL, online programmes can apply for recognition of additional programmes. The HEIs will be able to check the application fee and updates on the official website.

“HEIs may please note that the mere submission of an application should not be considered as grant of approval and that all applications shall be subject to scrutiny with respect to the standards stipulated in the UGC (Open and Distance Learning Programmes) Regulations, 2020, and its amendments,” UGC added.
UGC further informed that the application submission window remains open throughout the year on the official website –
- HEIs entitled to offer online programmes without prior approval of UGC as per regulations.
- Category-1 HEIs notified by UGC as per UGC regulations and its amendments for offering programmes under ODL mode.
