As per the draft, every higher educational institutes have links for eleven categories in the website. These categories are ‘About us’, “Administration’, ‘Academics’, ‘Admissions and fees’, ‘Research’, ‘Student life’, ‘Details of omdudsperson’, ‘Campus harmony and wellbeing’, ‘Amuni’, ‘Information corner’, ‘Picture gallery’ and ‘Contact us’.
In the ‘About us’ section the institutes have to mention institutional development plan, annual reports, constituent units, affiliated colleges, off campus/off shore campus, accreditation and ranking among others. Academics will contain the calendar of the session and various programmes. Admission and fee section should have entire information and links regarding the ongoing admission process, along with the prospectus.
“It is often noticed that the websites of several HEIs lack in providing basic minimum information or are not functional or are not up to date. This causes a lot of inconvenience and uncertainty to the stakeholders, particularly to the students. It is, thus, desirable that the universities/HEIs provide basic information and updated content on their websites for the benefit of the stakeholders,” the UGC said.
