The decision comes after some candidates appearing for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) 2026 on June 22 faced technical problems during the examination. NTA will conduct a re-examination for the affected candidates on July 5, 2026 (Sunday) at 3 pm at the same examination centre.

In a public notice, the testing agency said that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the agency responsible for conducting the examination, reported technical problems at the CT Group of Institutions Examination Centre in Jalandhar, Punjab. Due to this, some candidates scheduled to appear in shift-I were unable to take or complete the test despite being present at the centre. The agency acknowledged that the disruption was caused by technical issues and that the candidates were not at fault.
