Technical glitch disrupts UGC NET 2026 exam in Jalandhar; NTA orders re-exam on July 5

UGC NET re-test announced after technical issues at exam centre in Punjab; revised admit cards soon.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a re-examination for candidates affected by technical issues at an examination centre in Jalandhar. The decision comes after some candidates appearing for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) 2026 on June 22 faced technical problems during the examination. NTA will conduct a re-examination for the affected candidates on July 5, 2026 (Sunday) at 3 pm at the same examination centre.

In a public notice, the testing agency said that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the agency responsible for conducting the examination, reported technical problems at the CT Group of Institutions Examination Centre in Jalandhar, Punjab. Due to this, some candidates scheduled to appear in shift-I were unable to take or complete the test despite being present at the centre. The agency acknowledged that the disruption was caused by technical issues and that the candidates were not at fault.

"For those candidates of Shift-I, who, despite being present at the centre, could not take or complete the examination, for no fault of their own, the National Testing Agency expresses regret for the inconvenience caused," the notice stated.
Revised admit cards
Admit cards issued earlier will no longer be valid. NTA will issue revised admit cards with details regarding the re-examination, including reporting time and examination instructions. Affected candidates must regularly check the official NTA website for updates regarding revised admit cards.
Steps to download UGC NET 2026 admit card
For affected candidates, only the revised admit card issued by NTA for the re-examination will be valid.
- Visit the official website: ugcnet.nta.ac.in.
- On homepage, click on the "UGC NET June 2026 Admit Card" link
- Enter your application number, date of birth, and security pin and click on submit
- The admit card will open up on screen
- Check all the details carefully, including your name, exam date, shift, and examination centre
- Download the admit card and take a printout for future use

Candidates should carry the admit card along with a valid photo ID proof to the examination centre. NTA conductes UGC-NET exam twice a year for admission to PhD programmes in universities and colleges across the country. For more details, one can go to the official website.
