NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) result 2024 will be declared soon. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the UGC NET 2024 result for the June session exam on the official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in. Candidates who appeared for the exam will be able to download the UGC NET June 2024 result using their application number and password.
NTA has issued the UGC NET 2024 final answer key, which is available on the official website. The UGC NET 2024 exam was conducted from August 21 to September 4 across 83 subjects. Over 9 lakh students took the exam, and the UGC NET June 2024 results are now awaited.
Candidates can use the final answer key to calculate their final score in UGC NET 2024. To do this, candidates are required to understand the marking scheme which is given below.
Paper 1 includes 50 questions, each carrying 2 marks.
Paper 2 also awards 2 marks for each correct answer.
There is no negative marking for incorrect or unattempted questions.

The UGC NET scorecard will include the candidate's roll number, name, category, subject, applied post, marks for Paper 1 and Paper 2, total marks, and the result.
For multi-shift papers, the National Testing Agency (NTA) uses a normalisation process to convert a candidate’s raw marks into a percentile, referred to as the NTA Score. When a subject test is held across multiple shifts, the NTA Score is determined based on the candidate's raw marks. The education ministry cancelled the UGC NET June 2024 exam, which was conducted for the first time on a single day, due to warnings from the National Cyber Crime Coordination Centre regarding possible security breaches. The exam, held on June 18, saw participation from over 9 lakh candidates and was conducted in pen-and-paper mode.
According to the NTA, 6% of the total candidates appearing for the UGC NET exam will be shortlisted for the merit list.
Re-evaluation or re-checking of the UGC NET result is prohibited. As per the official notification, no correspondence regarding this matter will be accepted. Candidates are only permitted to challenge the provisional answer key, and the final result will be determined based on the objections raised

Career opportunities available after clearing the UGC NET include:
Assistant Professor: Candidates who obtain a NET certification and complete a PhD can apply for assistant professor positions at various universities across India, with openings available in both government and private institutions.
Junior Research Fellowship: Another avenue for UGC NET qualifiers is the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). This fellowship is awarded to the top 10% of UGC NET candidates and provides a monthly stipend from the government to support their research. For the initial two years, the stipend is Rs 37,000, which increases to Rs 42,000 upon attaining Senior Research Fellowship status.
As per the UGC NET marking scheme, candidates will receive two marks for each correct response, while there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. Additionally, no marks will be awarded for questions that are unanswered, unattempted, or marked for review.

The NTA cancelled the UGC NET 2024 exam at four centres: Dr. Ghanshyam Singh College of Education in Varanasi, Shankara Group of Institutions in Jaipur, Amatyas Global IT Solution in Jamnagar, and Jainee College of Engineering and Technology in Dindigul, due to technical issues and flooding.

The UGC NET Result 2024 will employ a normalisation method for multi-shift papers, where the raw marks obtained by candidates in different shifts or sessions will be converted to NTA Score (percentile). If a subject test is conducted across multiple shifts, the NTA Score will be calculated based on the raw marks earned by each candidate. The calculated NTA Scores from all shifts or sessions will be merged for further processing to determine allocation. In cases where the percentiles differ across the multi-shifts, the lowest percentile will serve as the eligibility cut-off for that category for all candidates.
The UGC NET 2024 result, as declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA), will be final. There will be no provision for revaluation of the UGC NET 2024 results.
