UGC warns students against fake notice on offline semester exams in all universities
The fake notice claims UGC has allowed universities to conduct semester exams in offline mode with COVID-19 protocols.

NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has warned students against a fake notice claiming to be UGC notification which says that all universities will conduct semester exams in offline mode. The Commission has not issued any such notice, it clarified.

“A public notice regarding offline examinations in universities is circulating on social media & claims to be issued by ugc_india. This public notice is #FAKE! University Grants Commission has NOT issued any such notice,” UGC said in a tweet.

“As all the colleges are operating while maintaining Covid-19 protocols, offline exams can be taken at the home centres,” the fake notice read. However, the UGC has not issued any notice on offline exams for semester exams. Students are advised to keep checking ugc.ac.in for any update on exams.

The fake notice added, “..all the universities are hereby advised to conduct all the current and future semester examinations in offline mode in their home centers with maintaining COVID-19 protocols.”
“Universities are requested to take proper precautionary measures for the preparation of conducting examinations in offline mode,” the fake notice further read.

Earlier in December 2021 too, PIB warned students against the same notice being circulated on social media claiming to be UGC’s official notification on conduct of offline semester exams in all universities.
Meanwhile, with Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA)’s decision to allow reopening of schools and colleges in the state as COVID-19 cases dip, delhi universities like JNU, IP University have announced resumption of offline classes from today.
