The finance minister will deliver the budget 2023 speech at 11 am today in Lok Sabha. The budget speech usually lasts for two hours.

Union Budget 2023 expectations

• Educational firms and NGO founders expect the government to spend on mental health, increase seats in medical colleges for PG and super specialized courses, and increase the number of teachers in primary schools.
• Academicians, professors, and universities expect reduction of tax on educational programmes to increase employability; schemes to encourage private participation for digitisation of skill-based education; incentivised schemes for sustainable development.
• Education experts and academics are expecting an increase in standards of teaching and delivery in institutions and prioritising vocational and skill education in secondary and higher education institutions.
• Education technology leaders are expecting a lower tax bracket, financial rewards, low GST on EdTech services and products, and a budget for professional development of teachers.
• Private education groups expect lower tax slab, spendings on quality education, focus on child education, and attention to mental well-being schemes.

Last year, Nirmala Sitharaman announced the establishment of a Digital University, e-content in all spoken languages along with other initiatives to improve digital education in the country.
