NEW DELHI: The University of Living and Nottingham Trent University have launched a social scholarship programme for students who have participated in social work. Those students who can provide proof of their social work experience are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Through this, the programme aims to support the cost of studying abroad for socially active students. The scholarship is worth £ 5,000, or over Rs 5 lakh and is unique in terms of not using merit as an eligibility criterion.
To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must be an Indian citizen and should have enrolled to study at Nottingham Trent University. “The selection process will involve an evaluation of the candidate’s social activism and conscience”. On successful completion, the scholarship will cover the applicants’ tuition and accommodation expenses.
University Living is a community-based global student housing management marketplace. The university said that this scholarship programme was launched to address the financial burden of studying abroad. Through this scholarship, the university hopes that selected students can access quality education and feel empowered in their educational journey and university life.
Saurabh Arora, CEO and founder of University Living said, “Encouraging students to contribute to making the world a better place is ideal. And when we incentivise this, it further urges students to do the right thing. At University Living, we are committed to making quality education accessible to all. Through our social scholarships program, we are coming closer to manifesting that vision by empowering talented students who might otherwise face financial barriers to their academic success.”
Students can check the detailed eligibility criteria of the scholarship programme on the official website of University Living at universityliving.com/scholarship.
