University of Hyderabad gets 12% more applications this year

NEW DELH I: Amid the novel Coronavirus pandemic, the University of Hyderabad (UOH) has received record 62,853 registrations for admission to 2456 seats offered in postgraduate and research programmes, as per the official data released by UOH. The total number of applicants are above 6,853 more than the last year. Last year, about 56,000 applicants registered themselves for University of Hyderabad admissions.
Out of the total number of registrations, 6,189 students have registered for M.Sc (MA/PY/CH/SB/AG) followed by 3847 students for M.Sc Chemistry, 3161 for M.Sc Physics, 2953 for M.A. (5-yr Integrated) Social Sciences (EC/HS/PS/SL/AN), 2536 for MA English and 2946 for MCA programmes.
About 46% of applicants are from Telangana, followed by Kerala (12%), Delhi (8%), AP and West Bengal (6% each), and Odisha (5%).
Of the total number of applicants, 60% of students belong to the SC, ST and OBC category. The total number of men candidates are almost equal to the women candidates. 11 transgender candidates have also registered for UOH admissions.

Prof. Appa Rao Podile, Vice-Chancellor, UoH was quoted saying to UOH Herald , “It’s gratifying to note that UoH is a preferred destination for students to pursue higher education and research. Not only have the number of applications within India increased, the number of foreign students applying has also gone up more than 20% this year. The Institution of Eminence tag has certainly helped the UoH in creating a positive image among the student community who want to be part of the institution. The University will ensure that affordable education is made available at global standards.”
UOH Entrance Exam
The schedule of UOH entrance examination 2020 will be notified in due course of time. "In view of the continuing situation with COVID-19 in the country, the University of Hyderabad announces the postponement of entrance exams scheduled for August 1 to 5, 2020 until further notice. The University will reschedule the exams at an appropriate time, keeping in view the health and safety of all potential candidates seeking admission to our programmes” reads an official notification available on the university’s website.
