UP government prohibits coaching institutes to take late evening classes of girl students

The Uttar Pradesh government under the Safe City Project is installing CCTV cameras at schools, higher educational institutions and coaching institutes.

NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh government has directed coaching institutes to not conduct late evening classes for girl students. The order has been given as per the new guidelines of the Safe City Project in UP.

A government press release of the state government also said that the institutes will also be responsible for ensuring the safety of girl students when they are taking the classes.

The state government said that it has initiated the project in 17 cities to step up women safety in the state. As part of the project, CCTV cameras will be installed at government and non-government educational institutions, private coaching institutes in Gautam Budhnagar and 17 municipal corporations across the state.

CCTV cameras at schools, HEIs

In the first phase of the project, CCTVs will be installed at more than 2,500 schools – 68 government schools, 646 aided schools and 1,786 unaided schools. A total of 26, 568 CCTV cameras will be installed in these schools.

As part of the Safe City Project, 5,505 CCTV cameras have been installed in 162 educational institutions – 21 state degree and PG colleges, 85 aided colleges, 49 unaided colleges and seven state universities.

CCTV cameras are also being installed at 606 coaching institutes of Guatam Budhnagar. Cameras have been installed at 418 coaching institutes while the work to install these at 188 institutes is going on. These CCTV cameras are being integrated with the control room of the smart city by the Urban Development Department.
