UP PET 2022: Video of crowded trains goes viral as students travel to far-off exam centres

NEW DELHI: Chaos prevailed in Uttar Pradesh after a huge crowd of students gathered at the railway stations to reach far-off exam centres to appear for UP-PET exam 2022. Videos of jam-packed railway stations also went viral on social media platforms. The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) will be conducting the UP Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) exam 2022 today and tomorrow.

BJP MP Varun Gandhi on Saturday took a swipe at the Uttar Pradesh government for neither postponing the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) nor making "adequate transport arrangements" for students to reach exam centres in flood-affected areas of the state.

"Ground realities are perhaps not visible from aerial surveys," he said, in an apparent dig at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who had recently surveyed the flood-hit areas. The Pilibhit MP said the state is in the "grip" of floods and over 37 lakh students are out to take the PET exam.

The Uttar Pradesh government in a tweet said, "Cheap domestic flights will start soon in 11 cities of the state." However, a student replied that the people in the state are not capable to travel by air, instead the state government should arrange bus and trains for these candidates.

Sharing images of trains packed with candidates, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said, "Candidates have been allotted exam centers that are 200-300 kilometers away from their city". Gandhi tweeted, “You will get goosebumps seeing the problems being faced by the students due to the huge chaos caused by the UP-PET exam. But, the BJP government is not even listening to their problems. The anti-youth government charges hefty fees from the youth for the examination, but is neither able to provide jobs, nor freedom from chaos.”
