UP school summer vacation 2023 extended till June 26 in view of heat wave

NEW DELHI : The Uttar Pradesh government has extended the summer vacation in UP schools till June 26 in view of “scorching” heat. Earlier, the schools were scheduled to reopen on June 15. The basic education department issued a notification on the extension of the summer vacation 2023 in UP.

On December 30, 2022, the department announced winter vacation of 15 days from December 31, 2022 to January 14, 2023 and summer vacations of 27 days from May 20, 2023 to June 15, 2023 in UP schools.

“In view of the scorching heat in council schools, summer vacations have been extended till June 26. Earlier schools were to open from June 15 but now schools will be opened on June 27, 2023,” the basic education department tweeted.

“As per the approval received from the Director of Education Basic, the summer vacation period from May 20 to June 15 is extended till June 26 in council schools/recognized basic schools run under the control of Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council. Summer vacation period will be from 20th May to 26th June,” said the education department in the official notification.

In relation to organizing the 9th International Yoga Day, the department directed that all the schools should be opened a day before June 21 and proper cleaning arrangements should be made; and a yoga exercise programme should be organized on in which sweets, fruits and pure drinking water are distributed among students
