UPES launches UG, PG courses in engineering and computer science

NEW DELHI: University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) has launched undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School of Engineering and School of Computer Science starting from the session 2021, the institution said in a statement.

The university has started two new undergraduate courses in engineering - BTech in advance materials and nanotechnology and BTech in renewable and sustainable energy engineering. The programmes also provide specialisations and students have the option of choosing minor electives.

UPES School of Engineering has also launched integrated four-year BSc-MSc programmes in physics, chemistry, and mathematics with their respective specialisations.

UG, PG programmes in computer science

UPES has introduced a two-year Master of Computer Application (MCA) programme which offers the students four options of specialisations - MCA in internet of things; banking, financial services and insurance; artificial intelligence and machine learning; and cyber security and forensics.

“Along with teaching students’ essential concepts such as data structures, algorithms, OOPS concepts using Java and Python, software engineering etc, the program will also teach students concepts of data science, informatics, robotics, banking analytics, law practices and procedures and more,” said the statement.

“The new programs offer specializations in advanced and future-focused technologies with a mix of various minor electives. The university has implemented these programs to equip students with the right skills and expertise, making them more confident and ready for industry 4.0,” further said the statement.

UPES has recently launched new UG and PG programs in its health science department. Most of the new courses have an eligibility criteria of minimum 50% marks in Classes 11 and 12 with physics, chemistry, biology or maths and English as major subjects, the admission is given through personal interview.
