UPSC CSE 2021 - 10 key points to remember at the time of exam

  • Do not try to answer all the questions in UPSC prelims exam 2021. One is expected to score at least 100 marks to qualify for the next stage

  • In case one has appeared for the exam in the past, then it is easy to deduce the answers by eliminating the wrong ones

  • A first glance at the question paper will help the candidate know if the UPSC CSE 2021 question paper is tough or easy and how much time one will need to devote to each question.

  • The questions on economy and polity need to have at least eight percent accuracy rate. Focus on answering them fast and first.

  • Science and technology questions could be answered later on in the UPSC prelims exam. First and foremost focus on answering questions on geography, current affairs etc.

  • Treat each question on the basis of merit. Do not go under the fixed notion that one would answer only so many questions. There is no harm in answering more questions in the UPSC IAS prelims exam, if one is confident about the answers.

  • CSAT has now placed all the candidates on a level playing field. Hence, whether one is from engineering background or from humanities, all are at the same level playing field.

  • Holding one’s nerve in the first 10-15 minutes after seeing the UPSC IAS question paper is the key to success. Normally the UPSC has at least 25 questions per set. If in the first few pages one finds challenging questions, move onto the next set of questions and answer those about which one is confident.

  • Do not start predicting the UPSC IAS cutoff 2021 inside the examination hall.

  • Try not to lose focus after the first hour of UPSC civil services examination is over. Normally candidates tend to become a bit lacklustre in the beginning of the second hour and gain momentum in the last 15-20 minutes. Consistency while answering the questions will pave the way for success in the UPSC civil services examination.

In the end, apart from the 10 key points that one must keep in mind at the time of the examination, one must also remember that before the examination, candidates do not forget to carry with them the UPSC IAS prelims e-admit card along with other important documents. Also candidates must adhere to important guidelines and follow the instructions related to COVID 19 protocol.
