Download EBookIn a major update, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will issue the UPSC civil services preliminary provisional answer key 2026 for the first time soon after the exam. Candidates will be able to submit their challenges against the UPSC CS answer key on the official website, upsconline.nic.in/login. The commission will conduct the UPSC CSE prelims exam 2026 on May 24 across the country.

UPSC has introduced the reform to issue UPSC CSE provisional answer keys shortly after the exam to improve transparency among candidates and uphold exam standards.
“The policy aims to make the examination process more participative while upholding its sanctity, integrity, and merit-based framework,” UPSC chairman Ajay Kumar said.
Candidates will be able to object to the UPSC CSE provisional answer key 2026 by May 31 till 6 pm, if any, through the “Online Question Paper Representation Portal (QPRep)” available on the official website.
UPSC CSE prelims 2026 admit card, timing
Candidates who applied for the UPSC CSE prelims exam 2026 can download their admit card on the official website, upsc.gov.in.
As per the official schedule, the UPSC CSE prelims 2026 exam is set to take place on May 24 in two sessions: General Studies Paper 1 will be conducted from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, while CSAT Paper 2 will be held from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
UPSC CSE prelims final answer key 2026
Candidates can submit their representations by indicating the correct answer as per their understanding, along with a brief description and supporting documents from atleast three authentic sources.
According to the official PIB press release, all the challenges received from candidates will be placed before a team of subject experts for a comprehensive review.
The subject experts will carefully examine each representation, assess the supporting documents, and record their considered views regarding the correctness of the answer key for the concerned questions. The UPSC CSE answer key will be finalised after consideration of all representations received.
